Help support the research that saved my life.
I’m participating in JDRF One Walk® to raise money that will help create a better future for the millions of people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) including me.
Donate to my team!
With T1D, a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. If you have T1D, you must constantly monitor your blood-sugar level, inject or infuse insulin through a pump, and carefully balance these insulin doses with your eating and activity.
When I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 9 years ago, I didn’t have a family history. No one really knows why my pancreas stopped working. But it did. And it has greatly affected my life. When I was admitted to the hospital with a blood sugar of 660 on April 24, 2009, I shouldn’t have been alive much less standing. I like to think my body is fighting for me even if it is ultimately the one that failed me. But I can’t win this fight alone.
Living with T1D means there are no days off and there is no cure. But there is hope.
Every dollar you donate to JDRF One Walk today will help fund research for better treatments to remove the daily burden of this disease—until there is a world without T1D.
